Unacceptable behavior

At happn, we do everything in our power to make sure our users can date in a respectful and safe environment. This means there are some clear, non-negotiable boundaries. No form of harassment or disrespect will be tolerated here.

What is formally prohibited

Certain attitudes are never acceptable, even if they are disguised or minimized as “jokes”:

Harassment
  • Repeated messages despite no response from the other person

  • Insisting after a rejection

  • Multiple or inappropriate attempts to contact another user

Sexually explicit messages without consent
  • Comments on a person’s physical appearance

  • Sending inappropriate content

  • Unsolicited sexual references

Judgment, mockery, or intimidation
  • Humiliating comments or inappropriate jokes

  • Aggressive or derogatory tone

  • Attempts at emotional manipulation

Threatening or discriminatory behavior
  • Threats (direct or indirect)

  • Racism, sexism, homophobia, or any other discriminatory speech or text

  • Behaviors that oppose the values we uphold - they may lead to definitive exclusion from the app.

What you should look out for

Behaviours that are unacceptable without seeming violent. Trust yourself and be vigilant of the following signs:

  • Insisting even though you are not interested or have said no.

  • Trying to make you feel guilty because you are not responding quickly enough or have expressed boundaries.

  • You feel pressured to share personal information or photos when you don’t want to.

  • You get the feeling that you’re being influenced, or they're trying to “change your mind.”

  • You don’t have to justify anything. If you feel uncomfortable, you can end a conversation immediately.

It’s never your responsibility to adapt to toxic behaviors.

happn’s role

We will not tolerate any disrespectful behavior on the app. To protect our users, we have implemented concrete measures.

  • A quick reporting system, accessible at all times on a user’s profile or in a chat.

  • 24/7 active moderating by a team of real humans, trained to identify and handle sensitive situations

  • The possibility to block a profile with one click: the person can no longer contact you.

Every report is considered serious

And if necessary, the person reported can be:

  • suspended temporarily,

  • issued a formal warning,

  • definitely banned from the app.

In summary...

You have the right to set your own boundaries. And you also have the right to end a conversation immediately if it feels disrespectful to you. At happn, your safety and well-being come first 💙
