To connect bookworms, happn and Megafauna joined forces to offer 50 Singles R$200 to spend on books

To celebrate more cultural connections, happn, the real-life dating app, has partnered with Megafauna, the iconic library at the Copan building, in São Paulo, to launch a special campaign. 50 selected users of the dating app now have the chance to win R$200 to spend on books there. This initiative reinforces the app's commitment to connecting people based on their interests and providing unique real-life experiences that bring them closer to their Crush.

The partnership comes from happn’s latest survey that revealed what many bookworms have always suspected: reading is incredibly attractive! It found that 76% of users admire and are more attracted to a Crush who has the habit of reading, and this appreciation is more than superficial as 78% believe that shared literary taste influences the chemistry between two people. Not only that, but a book recommended by a Crush also seems to be taken into consideration, as 35% of Singles said they have read one.

The love for books also influences date Spots, as the majority of users (62%) revealed they would love to go on a first date in a bookstore or library, highlighting the desire for intellectual and relaxed environments, rather than the traditional bars and restaurants. This is supported by the fact that nearly seven out of ten Singles consider reading an essential Hobby in their lives, with 56% of them reporting they read at least a few times a week. With that in mind, Megafauna is the best Spot for your next date!

When it comes to reading preferences, fiction (romance, suspense, fantasy) remains the most consumed genre at 41%, and the physical book is still the format of choice for 59% of readers. Acquisition methods are split between modern and classic, with online purchases (44%) slightly ahead of local physical bookstores (32%), but the partnership with Megafauna will help promote the joy of physical browsing through their special curation.

How To Participate

From October 23rd, registered users on happn who are geolocated in São Paulo during this period will receive an in-app notification inviting them to participate in the contest. Those interested will need to fill out a form with their details, and the happn team will contact the 50 selected participants, offering them the R$200 voucher to spend on books at Megafauna.

“We're always looking for unique ways to bring our users closer in real-life, and this partnership with Megafauna is the perfect way to turn that literary spark into a memorable first date, proving that a love for books is the ultimate love language,” says Karima Ben Abdelmalek, CEO and President of happn.
