With more than 160M registered users, happn wanted to understand the exposure of these singles to AI. The survey, encompassing a diverse range of age groups, to understand the differences of attitudes between Indian Gen Z and Millennials towards the integration of AI features on dating apps. A considerable portion of respondents, spanning all age groups, admitted to frequently (56%) or occasionally (23%) leveraging such features. Interestingly, there was a variance across genders, with a higher percentage of women in certain age groups embracing these enhancements more than men.

When probing the specific AI features that respondents have used or considered, AI-generated icebreakers (32%) and AI-suggested conversation topics (27%) resonate as the most appealing options. These tools not only reduce the pressure of initiating conversations but also offer a potential bridge towards establishing meaningful connections.

Despite the advancements, authenticity stands as a paramount concern for the majority of respondents. A significant 63% emphasized its importance when connecting with potential partners on dating apps. Interestingly, this sentiment was notably more pronounced among women across age groups. This draws attention to the potential tension between the appeal of AI-driven enhancements and the desire for genuine interactions.

57% users are comfortable using AI to enhance their flirting skills and 18% are extremely comfortable. Women exhibited a more cautious approach, indicating a potential gender disparity in this aspect.

In the grand debate of whether AI enriches the dating experience or detracts from authenticity, opinions are divided. While 47% perceive AI as enriching the experience, 23% believe it detracts from authenticity. Women, particularly in the 25-30 age group, express more reservations about AI's impact on authenticity. This divergence suggests that, while AI holds the potential to revolutionize the dating landscape, a mindful approach must be taken to ensure that authenticity is not compromised in the process.

Overall, majority users believe that a balance can be struck between AI tools and authentic interactions. 62% see it as challenging but possible, but women in the 25-30 age group, find it very challenging to achieve this balance. This reflects a collective acknowledgment that AI, when appropriately integrated, can complement and amplify genuine connections.
