Raio que o Parta
Would you ask someone to meet you at Raio que o Parta? This is the only case where the question would not be an insult, but a great invitation to discover a bar. And a very unusual one at that: it is tucked away at the back of a flower shop in Barra Funda. Bright and colorful, the place references an architectural movement that emerged in Pará in the 1950s, known for mosaics made from broken tiles and called, fittingly, Raio que o Parta. The Brazilian identity also shows up in the glass. From classics such as macunaíma, bombeirinho and rabo de galo to the Cocais, which combines bacuri and cupuaçu with vodka. To eat, there are a few small bites to take the edge off your hunger, such as fries slathered in béarnaise sauce and topped with pieces of aged fish.
