Depending on your style, you can plan ahead or turn up like you are not after anything and let the place surprise you. On the top floor of the Touring, a building designed in 1926 by the Frenchman Joseph Gire, the same architect behind the Copacabana Palace, and recently turned into a food and drink complex by Grupo Belmonte, sits a bar with plenty going on. The Guanabara Bay view is always the lead, and plenty of people climb the stairs for the cooking of chef Maria Sá, full of references to her native Pará and flavours from Thailand. But it is the programming that makes this place one of a kind in the city. The cultural menu, exhibitions, performances, readings, film screenings and DJ sets, tends to draw in interesting people. People like you.

We were both there for the film, not the drinks.
They were screening something on the terrace and about six of us actually sat down to watch it. Afterwards the guy next to me said he had expected everyone to talk over it. We stayed until the bar closed.
